A New Way to Think of Craft. CraftWorks focus on contemporary American craft incorporates traditional skills and modern materials and techniques to create new forms and objects. CraftWorks also offers classes that connect people with nature and
tradition—classes like building with strawbale, furniture restoration,
building rain gardens, and gardening. We even offer classes in backyard
poultry. Cool Spring and the Two Rivers region—where the Shenandoah River meets
the Potomac and Blue Ridge—abounds in natural beauty. Come discover the
birds and plants and animals of the region, and explore the forests and
rivers nearby with skilled naturalists.
Advancing Artists. CraftWorks is dedicated to helping artists be good businesspeople who more effectively market themselves and their art. Through classes, intensive workshops on topics like e-commerce, working with media, and grantwriting, CraftWorks aims to help artists succeed.
Young Artists. We believe that art enhances lives. We help kids to grow up understanding and appreciating the creative life. Whether they become musicians or mathematicians, the creative approach to life will better connect them to their communities and to the environment.
Two Rivers Stories Project. In autumn 2010, CraftWorks will kick of a project to document local life through oral histories, painting and drawing classes, theater labs, and film production workshops. Our aim is to capture this place, our place, in this moment.
