CraftWorks Drum Circle Meeting of Interest

    (all ages )

NEW!   A drum circle is a musical jam session where the focus is on fun, recreation and community.  It’s improvised and incorporates all ages and all levels of skill.  At this first meeting, we’ll see if there is enough interest to get started and figure out some of the logistics.

If you have participated in a drum circle before, bring your hand drums and small percussion to this meeting, and help us bring this idea to reality here at home in Jefferson County.  The circle will be facilitated by a community member, Tracy Seffers, who has been drumming in the DC area for several years.  Her teachers include Jaqui MacMillan, Katy Gaughan, and Jim Donovan of Rusted Root--all of whom studied with Baba Olatunji.

Magical History Walk,  Explore and Discover!  Saturday June 1,  4-5 pm

    (meet at CraftWorks at 3:45)

Join historian Jim Surkamp for a stroll down

Wheatland Roadand see the old mill, the traveling preacher’s home, a 1900’s one room schoolhouse and some very special houses.  Why is Jefferson County the most historic rural county in America ?  Hint – it gets a big lift from a guy named George - George Washington. Jim’s been unearthing County history for thirty years. He has 310 videos on YouTube, curates the content for civilwarscholars.com with American Public University ( would you believe 540,000 words, 1000 minutes of video and 10,000 images?) about that era in and around Jefferson.

Then come back and enjoy our Community Potluck Dinner – see below.  It’s free but please be sure to sign up for the potluck!
